I tried several ways to run my old OS/2 3.0, without success. Tried VMWare, tried VirtualBox (Oracle) but I can pass the first steps. The only way I can get a running system is to install it in an old computer.

Do you know some tricks that we can use?

Check out the 2nd post.

I had the same issue and that's how I fixed it.

EDIT: Sorry for being a little under-descriptive... it involved switching CPU to AMD in the Virtualbox settings. Razz

What is the first thing a computer says?

QEMU may work. virtuallyfun.superglobalmegacorp.com does some stuff with OS2, I think somewhere they have an image for download.

OS/2 is one of my favorite OSes because it's Windows compatible and has many extra features added to it.

It's nice. Just wish they'd carried on developing it. Imagine if OS/2 8 (like Windows Cool...
I heard it had spun off into eComStation. Sad. Wish they would open source it.

I emailed ecomstation and asked why it's more money than Windows and they "thanks for your interest. eComStation contains a license to OS/2 Warp 4.52 and as such cannot be free. Development is ongoing, updates should be available later this year.

I might buy a copy of OS/2 warp and host it on 4Tech remote PC so people can experience it legally for free

If I can find it cheaply that is.
Yes, I could get it from VetusWare but technically that's still illegal and I want to keep my forum free of that.
The cheapest I can find it is $40 here. I'd rather get some more RAM and a quad core CPU for my server for that.
I'll check around sometime. I might already have access to a copy.

I will, however, be hosting OSFree if the licence allows and the Windows NT series.
I'm sure someone I know owns a copy of OS/2 somewhere...

It doesn't look finished but still is a nice concept, much like ReactOS
